Dongying City of China and Taita Taveta County of Kenya established a friendly and cooperative relationship in 2024. From May 22 to 30, 2025, a delegation from Taita Taveta County, Kenya visited Shandong Province and participated in the 2025 Yellow River Estuary International Friendly Cities Conference for Cooperation and Exchange in Dongying and the 2025 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week in Jinan. During the launching ceremony of the 2025 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week, Taita Taveta County was honored as one of the first batch of "Outstanding Partners with Shandong".

　　At the 2025 Yellow River Estuary International Friendly Cities Conference for Cooperation and Exchange and the Dongying-Kenya Cooperation and Exchange Meeting, the Taita Taveta County delegation introduced their local investment environment and cooperation needs, and engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from new energy, software services, and water-related enterprises. Multiple cooperation intentions were reached with various companies. Prior to the meeting, the delegation also visited Shengli Xinda New Materials Co., Ltd. and other enterprises. The targeted exchanges between Dongying's government departments, businesses, and Taita Taveta County advanced practical cooperation with new opportunities for mutual benefit.

　　During their stay in Dongying, the delegation attended the International Friendly Cities Education Cooperation and Exchange Meeting and witnessed the inauguration of the Dongying International Industrial College. They visited the Vocational Training Center, Open Art Therapy Key Laboratory, and Student Affairs and Development Center at Dongying Vocational College, laying a solid foundation for sustained cooperation in vocational education. The delegation also met with faculty and students from Taita Taveta University currently exchanging at Dongying Vocational College, encouraging them to learn from the college's hands-on training expertise and contribute to China-Africa educational collaboration.

　　In the agricultural sector, the delegation visited the Saline-Alkali Land Agricultural Experimental Base and the Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Innovation Park of Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province located in Dongying. They also participated in the International Friendly Cities Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Meeting, and discussed saline-alkali land farming, smart agricultural equipment research and development, service system development, and industrial promotion with attendees. At the meeting, Taita Taveta County signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Yellow River Delta Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Equipment Industry Academy, enhancing cooperation in scientific research, skills training, and equipment trade. 

　　This visit further deepened the friendship and promoted comprehensive cooperation in trade, education, agriculture, and other fields.
